Fragrant Portals consists of 24 paintings, all the same size, arranged in groupings along two walls of the gallery. From the beginning this was conceived as an installation where the viewer could experience the totality of the combined imagery along with the colors, textures and details of each individual piece.

The concept for this body of work evolved over many months. Initially the images were based on floral motifs, but over time, as the title suggests, some of the details were condensed or magnified to suggest portals. With the advent of the pandemic plans for producing a video took shape.

With the creative, artistic and musical genius of my collaborator, Luke Fatora, this project has come to life. Our hope is that the video conveys a sense of the whole as well as the individual panels.
